Highlights

Penzance   |   Marazion   |   Helston   |   Falmouth   |   St Just   |   St Ives   |   Bournemouth   |   New Forest   |   Salisbury   |   Poole   |   Sandbanks

Day One

We depart from your home with our exclusive door to door pick-up service, board your coach and travel south to Penzance with comfort stops enroute, arriving at your hotel late afternoon, time to relax before dinner.

Famous for its pirates, well the singing variety anyway, Penzance is a historic port on the south facing shores of Mount’s Bay and has one of the mildest climates in the UK. One of the striking things about the town is the abundance of palm trees and gardens full of sub-tropical plants, a sure sign that you have arrived somewhere unique made even more special by the sight of St Michael's Mount out to sea that seems to hover magically over the water.

Day Two

Our day begins with a drive to Marazion, with stunning views toward the Lizard Peninsula and Land's End and its location opposite the fairy-tale castle perched on St Michael’s Mount, Marazion is a justifiably popular destination. The town claims to be the oldest town in Britain and was called Ictis by the Romans which goes someway to indicate that the area was a trading post for tin in ancient times.  The ancient market town of Marazion is a great place to visit and the safe, sandy beach is lapped by the clear, turquoise waters of Mount's Bay and guarded by the island fortress of St Michael's Mount.

We'll then travel on to Helston a lively town with a friendly atmosphere, a busy main street and plenty of historical attractions that keep the town’s heritage alive and as you walk past the thick set miner’s cottages, numerous pasty shops and old pubs, there is a nice traditional feel to the place. We then head for the delights of Falmouth which has been shaped and influenced by its strong connection to the sea.  Combining a fascinating maritime heritage and modern creativity, Falmouth is building a name for itself as one of the South West's leading cultural destinations and has a large selection of shops, cafes, cobbled alleyways, ancient inns and busy harbour side.

Day Three

An excursion today takes in St Just and West Cornwall. St Just was originally the centre of the tin mining industry in this part of Cornwall, the towns past is reflected in the nature of the streets of granite cottages. St Just was once the mining centre of the peninsula and disused engine houses dominate the landscape. In the centre of the town is Plain-an-Gwarry, a theatre used for miracle plays in medieval times.

Onto St Ives, and West Cornwall which then takes us to St Ives, the haunt of artists and one of Cornwall’s best loved resorts, wander through the maze of narrow cobbled streets, independent shops and fisherman’s cottages. A late afternoon return to Penzance.

Day Four

We depart our hotel this morning after breakfast and make our way through Cornwall and into Devon, along the south coast to Bournemouth and our hotel.

Day Five

A day at leisure in Bournemouth to discover the delight of this much-loved resort.

Located directly beneath a magnificent cliff top, Bournemouth’s very own spectacular beach is in perfect sight and in front of our sea front hotels.

This winning seven mile long beach is the perfect place to enjoy your day. Whether it’s stunning views of the Isle of Wight, a good old fashioned picnic, going for long walks along the traditional seaside piers or enjoying all types of tasty food which are on offer, Bournemouth beach is the ideal beach all year round.

Day Six

Our day begins with a drive through the picturesque New Forest to delightful Salisbury, known as ‘the city in the countryside’, Salisbury is surrounded by a landscape so quintessentially English it’s almost too good to be true. You have time to explore, obtain lunch and maybe visit the 13th century Cathedral with the tallest spire in England, within the Chapter House at the Cathedral you’ll find the best preserved of the four original Magna Carta manuscripts dating from 1215AD. In the afternoon we return to Bournemouth with a chance for a stroll and drink before dinner.

Day Seven

Today we travel out to Poole, with its magnificent harbour and Brownsea Island, time to explore the harbour side, Poole Pottery or nearby shopping and the chance to obtain lunch.  Poole’s natural harbour is the largest in Europe, making it a haven for sailors, wildlife, water sports and boat chartering. Grab your binoculars as Poole Harbour is recognised as an internationally important home for wetland wildlife.  This afternoon we drive to Sandbanks, which itself is a small peninsula, containing some of the most expensive houses and land in the country, in fact Sandbanks is becoming as famous for its well known residents and lavish lifestyles of some of its occupants as it is for its beach.

Day Eight

This morning after breakfast we depart our hotel and begin our journey home with refreshment stops enroute.
