DAY ONE

We depart from your home with our exclusive home pick-up service, join your tour coach and journey northwards with comfort stops enroute, arrive late afternoon, time to relax before dinner.

DAY TWO

We begin with a spectacular ride through Bilsdale – ‘Little Switzerland’ – and past the Sun Inn which has had the same landlord for 200 years!!!  Passing near historic Rievaulx Abbey we come to the delightful market town of Helmsley with its huge market square and little tea rooms.  Here we take a break for lunch and later continue past Amplefoth and Byland Abbey to Kilburn, under the famous White Horse.  The village is the home of Mousey Thompson, the famous woodworker renowned for his little mouse carving adorning hand carved oak furniture, whilst here we visit the Mousey Thompson Visitor Centre which also has a gift shop and tearoom.

DAY THREE

This morning we drive across the moors to the village of Danby, here we visit the Danby Moors centre.  Set in an idyllic spot on the banks of the River Esk, you can see pretty much everything that makes the Moors National Park so special, moorland, woodland, farmland and much more.  At the centre we have included morning tea/coffee & scones.  Leaving Danby we head up onto the moors and Blakey Ridge, passing the well-known Lion Inn on the way.  The views are spectacular all around and we next descend into the lovely village of Hutton-le-Hole, here we visit the Ryedale Folk Museum and learn all about the history of the village and surrounding dales.  We are then onto our way to Pickering where we have chance for a drink and bite to eat before we join the North Yorkshre Moors Railway for an 118-mile steam train journey across the moors to Grosmont, calling at Goathland (TV’s Heartbeat).  At Grosmont you will have chance to look around and maybe visit the railway workshops and see restoration work in progress before rejoining your coach for the journey back to our hotel.

DAY FOUR

Today we head for the seaside and our first visit is to Saltburn-by-the-Sea, a traditional small seaside resort, here we take the unique Cliff Lift to the shore and enjoy a stroll along the historic pier.  Moving on, we have a picturesque journey along the coastal region taking us to Loftus, Staithes and Sansend on the way to Whitby, a maritime town, fishing port and seafarers haven bursting with character and quite unique.  Time to wander the little alleyways and narrow streets and perhaps climb the famous steps up to the ruins of Whitby Abbey.  On our return we cross the scenic moorlands past Scaling Reservoir.

DAY FIVE

After a leisurely breakfast we depart our hotel for our homeward journey with comfort stops enroute.
