DAY ONE

We depart from your home with our exclusive home pick-up service, join your tour coach and travel north to Scotland with comfort stops enroute, tea/coffee await you on your arrival whilst your luggage is taken to your room, time to relax before dinner.

 

DAY TWO

This morning we visit the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum which offers a unique encounter with Scotland’s favourite son.  Set in 10 acres of the poets cherished countryside; the museum includes the famous Burns Cottage where the poet was born, the historic landmarks where he set his greatest work, the elegant monument and gardens created in his honour and a modern museum housing the world’s most important collection of his life and works.  From here we continue to Dumfries House, a stunning estate and 18th century house set in 2,000 acres where we enjoy a guided tour and afternoon tea served within the main house.

 

DAY THREE

After breakfast we say goodbye to Troon and begin our journey to Aberdeen via Dundee where you will have free time to get lunch followed by a visit to Discover Point.  Here we explore Captain Scott’s ship – Discover – which he sailed on his remarkable Antarctic expedition.  We gain an insight into the man who captained this historic adventure at the turn of the 20th century and the story of life on board for the crew.  After our visit we continue onto our hotel in Aberdeen, our base for the next three nights.

 

DAY FOUR

After a leisurely breakfast, this morning we make the short journey into Aberdeen where you will have time at leisure exploring Scotland’s third largest city.  See the impressive turreted Town House in Union Street, the castellated Citadel at The Castlegate and the striking gothic Marischal College, the world’s second largest granite structure which are all fine examples of Aberdeen’s most famous export.  Attractions include Provost Skene’s House, the Aberdeen Maritime Museum and the famous shopping ‘Granite Mile’.

 

DAY FIVE

There are more castles per acres in Aberdeenshire than anywhere else in the UK and today we visit Crathes Castle – turrets, gargoyles and the ancient Horn of Leys are just a few of the fascinating features of this beautiful home and the gardens are a delight at any time of the year.  We then make our way to the Royal Deeside Railway at Milton of Crathes train station where we board a diesel or steam train subject to timetable) for a 2-mile return journey.  The Royal Deeside Railway is unique in having served all British Monarchs, from Queen Victoria to Queen Elizabeth II, their families and foreign visitors travelling to Balmoral.  After our journey we enjoy free time in the nearby town of Banchory before returning to our hotel.

 

DAY SIX

This morning after breakfast we bid farewell to Bonnie Scotland and begin our journey home with comfort stops enroute along with a lot of treasured memories.

Set in a beautiful location overlooking the golf course and across the Firth of Clyde to the Isle of Arran, the grand Marine Hotel has a formal but cosy bar that extends into a lounge area where guests can relax and socialise.  All bedrooms are tastefully decorated and offer all the facilities that you would require for a relaxing break.  The elegant restaurant offers superb views across to the Isle of Arran whilst the leisure club features a fitness suite, indoor pool that overlooks the spa, spa bath, sauna and steam room, the hotel also has a lift.

 

MERCURE ARDOE HOUSE HOTEL, Aberdeen

This stunning hotel is housed within a 19th century mansion and set within 30 acres of peaceful countryside, approx. 3 miles from the centre of Aberdeen.  Bedrooms are spacious and stylishly decorated with quality furnishings.   The public areas contain many original period features including a stunning original staircase.  Soapie’s lounge bar provides a warm, open fire and relaxed surroundings whilst Lairds Bar provides an opportunity to enjoy an impressive selection of malt whiskies in traditional Scottish surroundings.  Leisure facilities include an indoor pool, sauna, spa bath, steam room and gym.
