Highlights

Matlock Bath   |   Haddon Hall   |   Renishaw Hall & Gardens   |   De Bradley Mill Shopping Village Belper   |   Melbourne Hall Gardens

Day One

We depart from your home with our exclusive door to door pick-up service before joining your coach and travelling to Derbyshire, arriving late afternoon at your hotel, time to relax before dinner.

Day Two

A short drive takes us along the Derwent Gorge to the delightful little town of Matlock Bath.  Here you have the option of a cable car ride to the Heights of Abraham, with spectacular views all around (not included).  There are opportunities in the town for a drink and a bit to eat before we leave for our afternoon visit to Haddon Hall, probably the finest example of a fortified medieval manor house in existence.  Present day Haddon Hall dates from the 12th century and was brought back to its former glory in the 1920s when the 9th Duke & Duchess of Rutland restored the house and gardens, wander the gardens, grounds and countryside, explore the interior and maybe end your visit in the café.

Day Three

Todays excursion takes us towards Sheffield and a visit to delightful Renishaw Hall and Gardens, home to the Sitwell family for over 400 years, there are eight acres of Italianate Gardens, statues, borders, ponds and woodlands.  The hall houses a fascinating collection including work by Cecil Beaton, after the Hall tour we can visit the gardens and end our visit with Cream Tea.

Day Four

This morning we visit the De Bradley Mill Shopping Village in Belper, one of the many mills along the Derwent Valley dating back to the time of the Industrial Revolution.  Here you can browse for a designer bargain and enjoy a drink before we leave for our afternoon visit to Melbourne Hall Gardens.  Located in the south of Derby the Hall is the private residence of Lord & Lady Kerr who initiated an imaginative planting scheme in the gardens, including shrubs, specimen trees and a unique collection of Magnolias & Roses, making this a garden of rare beauty – not to be missed.

Day Five

After a leisurely breakfast we bid farewell and begin our journey home with refreshment stops enroute.
