HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHTS

York’s JORVIK Viking Festival   |   Harrogate   |   Skipton   |   Haworth   |   Royal Pump Rooms Harrogate

DAY ONE - Arrival

We depart from your home and travel north to North Yorkshire, arriving at your hotel you’ll have time to relax before dinner this evening.

DAY TWO – York’s JORVIK Viking Festival

Today we head to York to experience the annual JORVIK Viking Festival – a city-wide celebration of York’s rich Norse heritage. Recognised as the largest event of its kind in Europe, you can enjoy an exciting programme of events, including living history encampments, markets, workshops, talks, tours, and dramatic combat performances.

DAY THREE - Harrogate

We start today with a visit to the Royal Pump Rooms Museum to find out why Charles Dickens said that ‘Harrogate is the queerest place with the strangest people in it, leading the oddest lives’.

Afterwards, the day is yours to explore Harrogate at your own pace. With huge open spaces and broad tree-lined boulevards, antique shops and shopping malls, elegant buildings, abundant greenery, flowers, and plants, it is little wonder that the town is a frequent winner of Britain in Bloom awards. Harrogate also boasts the world-famous Betty’s tearooms, make time to stop here.

DAY FOUR – Skipton & Haworth

Our day begins with a drive to Skipton – ‘Gateway to the Dales’. The attractive High Street leads up to the church, behind which you see the impressive 900-year-old castle and Skipton Woods. Skipton Castle is one of the most complete and best-preserved medieval castles in England.

From Skipton we make our way to Haworth, home of the famous Bronte sisters and their notorious brother. Little has changed in the village since they lived at the Parsonage.

After a leisurely breakfast we make our journey home with comfort stops en route.
